This Acer KA240H bd review talks about the monitor that has become the best seller on in its category within 2 months of its release.

Acer KA240H bd is a budget monitor built for the normal day to day use. It is minimal in design as well as features and due to that it is also one of the cheapest monitors in the market.

Although this monitor has received the best seller badge on, is it really worth the money? Are there better monitors out there in the market that you should rather go for?

We will explore all that in this Acer KA240H bd review. One thing is clear for sure, Acer has really stepped up their game in the monitor industry. They have propelled themselves to become the leading brand in this market.

Not just in budget range, Acer has also stood out from the rest in the high end gaming monitor department. There Acer Predator 34 inch curved gaming monitor is testament to the quality of the monitor Acer has been producing these days.

Let us explore what this monitor holds in store and if there are any better alternative that you can rather go for.

Design and Features

Acer KA240H bd Review | 24 inch FHD Monitor

For starters, unlike most of the monitors coming out these day, this is not an IPS panel monitor. Instead it harbors the older TN technology.

For those of you who don’t know, IPS panels are better at colors and viewing angles and TN panels are better with response time. Almost all TN panel monitors have 1 ms response times. Unfortunately, this monitor fails in both. The TN panel on this monitor has the same response time as an IPS panel: 5 ms, but lacks the vivid visual quality and viewing angles of an IPS panel. This is a serious drawback.

Furthermore, the design and looks of this monitor are quite lackluster. Most of the monitor coming out these days have very slim bezels and beautiful stands. This monitor unfortunately has the same old boring looks that were common a few years back.

It is most certainly not a monitor that you can put in your living room and be proud of its looks. The design is just functional. It serves the purpose just well, but it is not an eye candy for sure.

ViewSonic VX2776-SMHD Review 2This is a full HD monitor which is normal for a monitor of this and price range. The monitor does not have many adjustability options like swivel, rotate or height adjustment. You can only tilt it from -5 degrees to 15 degrees and that is about it.

The monitor does come with eye care technologies such as flicker free and blue light filter technologies in order to be easy on your eyes.

Other than that there isn’t much going on in this monitor. As you can see from this Acer KA240H bd review, this is a basic monitor designed for normal multimedia use. It is definitely not built for hardcore gaming or for professional work.

This monitor does come with VESA mounting holes so you can hook it up on the wall or mounting arms. However, if you are planning on building a multiple monitor display setup with this monitor, don’t. Consider reading about the thin bezel monitors first before deciding to go that way.

Just as this monitor lacks in performance and looks, it also lacks in connectivity options. The monitor does not offer HDMI port. It only has a DVI or VGA port.

In order to interface it with devices with HDMI port, you will need to get an adapter which will only put added expenses and the quality would not be great.

This monitor does fall in the budget range but it is not the best valued monitor that you can get in the market today. There are some other awesome monitors that are super thin, have IPS panels, and amazing connectivity options and cost less or almost the same. Two great examples are HP Pavilion 23er and ViewSonic VX2376.

Although this monitor has won the best seller award, we do not recommend this monitor due to the following cons.

The Cons

Compared to monitors of today, this monitor is lacking in aesthetics. It has huge bezels around the screen. It also has a very mundane stand.

Furthermore, it harbors a poor TN panel that has a response time of 5 ms. TN panels three or four years back had faster response time than this while costing the same.

This monitor does not have HDMI port which is a huge drawback. Many monitor of this price range has gone beyond HDMI port by offering the rarer DisplayPort. Acer KA240H bd can’t even manage to feature an HDMI port.

The value for money on this monitor is really bad with the current price tag of $150. Consider this monitor for purchase if it were available at a discount of $30 – $40.

Acer KA240H bd Review Conclusion

In this Acer KA240H bd review we discovered that this not the best monitor that can be had for $150. There are many monitors out there that are not just cheaper, but also good looking and with better performance.

I don’t see any reason to recommend this monitor, unless of course you are getting it a price that is much cheaper and an awesome bargain.
